HR-1523 : Still Just a Bill

The "PREVENT DIABETES Act" or H.R. 1523 aims to enhance access to the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP) by:

  • Allowing entities to participate in MDPP by exclusively offering online services (synchronously or asynchronously) between January 1, 2026, and December 31, 2030, provided they meet MDPP supplier enrollment conditions.
  • Ensuring that virtual MDPP suppliers' administrative location is the address on file with the Diabetes Prevention Recognition Program.
  • Preventing claim denials solely based on the beneficiary's location during online service delivery if the beneficiary is in a different state than the supplier.
  • Removing limits on the number of times an individual can enroll in the MDPP.

This bill directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to revise relevant regulations to implement these changes by January 1, 2026.
