S-5274 : Still Just a Bill

The "Critical Mineral Consistency Act of 2024" (S.5274) amends the Energy Act of 2020 to include "critical materials" in the definition of "critical minerals".

• The bill mandates that the Secretary of Energy, within 45 days of determining a non-fuel mineral, element, substance, or material to be a critical material, must update the list of critical minerals to include the newly designated critical material.

Sponsored by Ms. Sinema and Mr. Lee, the bill was introduced in the Senate on September 25, 2024, and referred to the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
