HR-5148 : Still Just a Bill

H.R. 5148, also known as the "Military Training and Competency Database" bill, directs the Secretary of Defense to establish a centralized database to record and maintain information regarding training performed by members of the Armed Forces. This database will:

• Be accessible to states and potential employers to verify if military training satisfies civilian licensing and certification requirements.

The Secretary of Defense must establish regulations and procedures for implementation within one year of the bill's enactment and provide a report to Congress on the database's effectiveness within two years, including feedback from states and employers.
